Cynthia Pinero has sent in this Food for Thought:

THEREFORE, WE DO NOT LOSE HEART THOUGH OUTWARDLY WE ARE WASTING AWAY, YET INWARDLY WE ARE BEING RENEWED DAY BY DAY.  FOR OUR LIGHT AND MOMENTARY TROUBLES ARE ACHIEVING FOR US AN ETERNAL GLORY THAT FAR OUTWEIGHS THEM ALL.   SO WE FIX OUR EYES NOT ON WHAT IS SEEN BUT ON WHAT IS UNSEEN FOR WHAT IS SEEN IS TEMPORARY BUT WHAT IS UNSEEN IS ETERNAL.  2Corinthians 4: 16-18

From Enrico Garcia, Sydney Australia

Dear Classmates, I thought I'll break the ice of this message board to share with you what I've been up to this year.

Early this year a small group of Sillimanians here in Sydney have decided to re-ignite the Silliman spirit by reviving the alumni association which had been in the doldrum for the past 5 years. We spread the word in the four corners of Sydney asking for Silliminians to join our group. A good number heeded the call to join and our membership grew to around 50. We then had an election of office bearers and I was elected as Chair of the Executive Committee consisting of 3. Following this we went on to register our association with the New South Wales jurisdiction as a non-profit organisation - very important if we intend to raise funds. Our first major function was held on 30 August in line with the 107th anniversary of SU Founder's day and induction of office bearers. We were very fortunate indeed to have the Consul General of the Philippine Consulate General in Sydney as our inducting officer.

I'd like to show you a video on YouTube about the function. Click link below. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MGaDp6b8V2Q Also some photos from the function showing myself with the Consul General.

From Susan May Ferrolino:

I went through the Silliman University Landscape page and was reminded of a photo taken recently with some family members after church service.

Attached is the photo, to the nurses in the class, Margie and Lorna,( did I miss anyone?) who attended Silliman College of Nursing, that's a recent photo of Mrs Cirlezita Cabote, my aunt who celebrated her 70th birthday this year.

Included is my sister, Cynthia, and brother Philip ( now an instructor at the SU College of Nursing), yes this is the little boy with mop hair who used to go around with me, and that is his son with him.  On my left, is Darryl Cabote, my cousin, and on my right is his nephew, Zarlu.  My other aunt, Ms Juana Flores is also with us and a cousin, with her back turned.
